No suprises for us boaters, but Fox had an interesting article today about how high gas prices are unlikely to keep boaters off the water.

Reading about marina prices in Southern CA sure makes me glad I live on the Gulf Coast.

Moving up to a full cruiser from our 20′ Chaparral cuddy is a big step for our family. Everyone turned out for our maiden voyage of our new 2001 Regal 2760. We needed to drive it from the local big boat launch ramp to our leased lift on Santa Rosa Sound.

The boat was transported on a goose-neck trailer which made for easy launching at the Cinco Bayou city ramp in Ft Walton Beach. (more…)

Got some great running shots of the Regal yesterday. Doesn’t hurt that the co-captain is a professional photographer.

I guess this weekend marked the official start of boating around Ft Walton Beach. Saturday traffic seemed typical of the more classic boating weekends such as Memorial Day or 4th of July.

We took ‘SC’ out for more driving practice. We’re still making peace with the anchor windlass. The boat seems to reverse weathervane at idle - which makes dropping (more…)
