Billy Bowlegs Festival Pictures

Some scattered thunderstorms couldn’t keep Capt Billy down this year. It was touch-and-go for the fire works Friday night, but in the end everything was able to come off as scheduled.
Turn-out on Saturday was outstanding as seen in the panorama above. Santa Rosa sound was the water equivalent of a parking lot for nearly a mile along the north shore from Ft Walton Landing to the “Boat” Marina. The full size panorama and a whole lot of boating pictures are posted at the 2006 Bowlegs Gallery on SLRSite.com

The firework show seemed a bit short, but got off to a rousing start and had some nice, special rockets in the middle. Due to the threatening weather, we watched from our boat slip so it was hard to judge the on-water turnout. Boat traffic west down the sound seemed pretty light afterwards.
Saturday featured just about every type of watercraft imaginable. Powerboats were the principle attenders, but there were quite a few masts visible in the raft-ups.

One of the braver ways to take in Bowlegs - especially given the number of wakes generated in every direction.
Law enforcement was out in force. From our vantage point, the Coast Guard appeared to be the best behaved in terms of keeping their wakes down in the congested areas.
