CNN posted a 45 second video of a 819 lb Mako caught in California on its website this morning. The video shows the shark upon arrival at Marina Del Rey (just north of the LAX airport in Los Angeles).
You can see the video HERE. It appears to play best in Internet Explorer.

Ok, I am still pissed about this Very Irresponsible Video.
I go boogie boarding Every weekend and for them to post this up with no further info is just wrong…
How far out was it?
Did the guy go 20 Miles out to sea & hook this shark, cause if so No Worries for the rest of us on the coast…

I haven’t seen any more details, but you can pretty well assume sharks are always around anywhere there’s salt water (or even fresh in the case of Bull Sharks). Fortunately, they don’t mistake humans for prey very often.

I’m sorry you are so shocked about the irresposibility of not knowing about sharks in salt water…however…
How can they simply post that video with absolutely no information? It’s really like watching a death march…pretty crappy to tell the truth…perhaps a single iota of information regarding the shark would have made it more responsible reporting…or even reporting all together…
As Robert asked above, “How far out?” How about water/weather conditions? All nice/good to know info for shark enthusiasts and also for other fishermen as well…though I for one am not for shark fishing.
Awesome catch guys….I just hope that the shark went to good use!
