NOAA RNC Online Nautical Chart Viewer - A Free Way to Browse Marine Maps for the US Coast
The NOAA Office of Coast Survey has released a new online application to browse their RNC (Raster Nautical Chart) marine map catalog which includes over 1000 charts. Their website claims these are updated on a continuing basis to reflect changes posted in the “Notices to Mariners”.
Current functionality is limited to simple panning and zooming and they do not support an easy way to print selected areas of the map. On the plus side, load times and performance seem pretty good. This is a good way to determine which maps sets you might want to download for use in one of the more dedicated chart programs.
